Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United

Saturday 12th September at 7.30p.m
Prediction Spurs 2:1 Man U

Turns out I was wrong, very wrong indeed. Tottenham, playing at White Hart Lane against possibly the greatest team in the world, Manchester United, and that is not just a matter of opinion had every chance to extend their winning streak against the Title holders but noooooooooo. After a fabulous opening strike from Jermaine Defoe, it was all United even after Mr. Scholes was shown red which means that he now has more career red cards than goals *uncited*.
I could go on about who scored what and when or why but all im sure you need to know was that Spurs lost at 3:1 which is the highest score that we've lost by at the Lane. It is also notable that Anderson scored his first ever premier league goal in this match to only make matters worse.
Now, the possibility of beating United at Old Trafford in the return leg is as attainable as getting Keira Knightely's phone number, nevertheless we shall give it our best shot. Spurtans rule.

Tottenham vs Liverpool 2-1

First game of the season and what a game it is a carbon copy of the last fixture of the last season where Tottenham visited Anfield and lost at 3-1. This time however, it is the Merseysiders doing the travelling to North London probably in a feat to restore the pride of Merseyside where other North Londoners, Arsenal had beaten Everton 6-1. You could not put a more difficult fixture to begin with and at the back of Spurs fans was last seasons lack of a win in their first eight games resulting in the departure of former manager Juande Ramos. This was not going to be the case this time. tottenham were in the zone in the first half and the likes of Torres and Gerrard were restricted to long shots, Sebastien Bassong and Ledley King in defence doing their best not to dissapoint. It was the home team that took the leade close to half time when a Huddlestone free kick ricocheted off the wall and the rebound was coolly shot past Reina in goal by surprisingly Benoit Assou Ekotto his first goal in senior football. Came the second half and the Spurs resilience was to be tested but the onslaught from Liverpool was at best, awful. Luck was on their side though as right back Johnson broke through the defence and was brought down in the area by keeper Heurelho Gomes. Penalty kick, and Gerrard shot a thunder bolt on to the roof of the net beating the man in goal, 1-1 and Liverpool looked to be getting back into it but this was all shortlived. Another freekick at the other end and Luka Modric put it into the path of basssong who headed it into the net. 2-1 and the score was to remain this way.

New season 09/10

Tottenham have performed tremendously in their pre-season matches. We won the Asia cup in Asia of course, beating hull city, West Ham etc. But, the biggest win I might add was at White Hart Lane where we were visited by none other but the Greek champions Olympiakos. Needless to say, these are a right bunch of seriously awesome footballers. On this day however, they were thoroughly humbled going down 3-0 at the hands of Defoe, new signing Peter Crouch and Pavlyuchenko. I might add that new right back Kyle Naughton had a hand in it as well providing a brilliant assist on the wing.
The lillywhites never cease to amaze me, this may be their year.

Transfer Rumours

Ruud van Nistlerooy to Tottenham at only 1.25 million pounds. With the likes of Kaka and Ronaldo at The Bernabeau its best for him to come retire in the premier league and help us win the title.
Klaas van Huntelaar, Real Madrid attacking specialist, should sort out our forwrds nicely..highly overrated and unlikely.
Ashley Young, Aston Villa. In exchange for Jermaine Jenas plus a couple million pounds. I'd love to see him on the left, Lennon on the right. Any full backs would be rightly worried. But, I dont think so.
Peter Crouch, Portsmouth. well, certainly things are looking up..get it? Anyway, I dont see him fitting into our style of play very well but maybe redknapp has ideas.
Whats with all this strikers, we need to beef up our defence.
Sebastien Bassong, Newcastle. Gladly, he is a good defender, coupled with his age, at 25 a bargain.
Kyle Naughton and Kyle Taylor. All I know is that they are right backs..nothing more and young.

We Finish 8th: Season Wrap

Wow! so close to getting to Europe, by merit this time, we only had to beat Liverpool in the last game of the season since Fulham pretty much lost to the Toffees, and we had beaten Liverpool before, twice I might add. Ofcourse a hat trick of wins over the Merseysiders is a bit asking too much, so we went down heroically at Anfield 3:1. But, it wasnt all lost, Robbie Keane the Spurs prodigal son was on the score sheet putting one past his former colleagues and making Benitez eat his heart out. Personally, I think the decision to sell Keane cost Rafael the title and brought us back to glory the best way we know how, winning.

As we celebrate this great feat, let us look back at the greatest matches played by the lilywhites this season.
Bitter North London rivals Arsenal were unable to beat us at all this season going 4:4 at Emirates and then 0:0 at White Hart Lane. Both matches were incredible, fantastic football, well deserved points.
Chelsea: Our London neighbours were beaten at the Lane 1:0 with a fabulous strike from our resident Croatian midfielding maestro Luka Modric. A first and only loss for Chelsea under the legendary manager, Guus Hiddink.
Ofcourse Liverpool lost twice at the Lane in the first leg a lucky 2:1 and an impressive 4:2 in the run up to the Carling cup.
Worth to note that Tottenham were only beaten once at White Hart lane in 2009 which was to Blackburn.
Other clubs that have been buried at The Lane include the relegated three. Boro 4:0, Newcastle 1:0 and West Brom 1:0. Additional teams include Aston Villa, Man City, Stoke..you get the drift.

Manchester United caused us the greatest distress this season as would be expected. 0:0 at the Lane. They beat us on penalties to take the Carling cup in a game we could have easily won and then the greatest defeat this season; 2:0 up at Old Trafford by half time then they bring in everyone in the 2nd half and I mean everyone. Tevez, Berbatov, Rooney, Ronaldo, Giggs, Carrick, Scholes all playing together, not even Barcelona got this. Anyway, final result 5:2 unbelievable.

All in all it has been a great season an improvement I might add. All praise to Harry Redknapp and his team. Worth to mention Aaron Lennon, Luka Modric, Wilson Palacios, Benoit Assou Ekotto, King, Woodgate, Keane, Bent, Defoe. Stay at the Lane.
